Mixed Emotions!

I have no idea how I'm feeling! I don't know if I'm excited or sad, because guess what? THIS IS MY LAST BLOG POST! As a year six unfortunately I have to go to high school and leave Enrich :(

Paul had some very exciting news for us. Katie has had her baby!! She named it Pippa and it was born on 29 of November! We did a chart a couple weeks ago and we all guessed Katie's baby's name, date of birth, weight and gender. The winner was the person who got the closest to all the information and they won a box of Favourites chocolates and guess who the winner was ?.... ME!!  Then we did some reflecting! We had to write down four things we'd learnt this year. My four were chess, performance,  thinkers keys and Ancestry.
After morning tea we had (drum roll please) ENRICH HAS TALENT!! I was in the performance group and we performed Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Mariah Carey! There were a couple other performances, but once we had that all wrapped up we finished off our year six slides.

Now for my favourite part of the day.... We had a shared lunch! After munching on yummy food the music went on, and here I am now typing up my last blog ever!!

I have learn
t so much over the last three years at Enrich, and I have always looked forward to going. I will miss Enrich heaps!!

Performance is back!

Hi!
I am very happy!! Seeing Nicola can't be at Enrich@ILT I thought we wouldn't be doing Performance anymore (which I was very upset about). Anyway Ginny is now doing Performance!

We got spilt into three groups, we could either choose Art, Performance or Engineering. Anyway of course I am doing Performance, and today we showed Ginny some of our songs from last year, then we learned a Christmas song. We made up a dance to Mariah Carey "Santa Claus is coming to town" and "All I want for Christmas is you"!  We might be performing Santa Claus is coming to town next week to the rest of the class.

I can't wait till next week!

Last day with Katie teaching!!

Hi everyone! I am just going to give you a quick review of my day!
This is the last day Katie will ever teach me seeing she's going on maternity leave and I'm leaving at the end of the day!
Anyway we started of with brain boosters and I did sumo cubes. I am not really good with making shapes and things so I got very frustrated but in the end I made a cube and a couch!
Then we did thinking on your feet. I got to do one of my favourites, debating!!! The subject was "there should be only 25 students in a class per teacher''. My team was against that. In the end it was a tie and surprisingly there was not much shouting.
After morning tea we did newspaper and I am so glad to be done both my articles! Be sure to pick up a copy once its published because its guaranteed to be amazing!!!!

My end result!

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Before the holidays we presented 3 minutes of our discovery! I thought it would be terrible but when I got up to present it was actually really fun. I have really enjoyed doing this and I am super proud of my end result! On the day I came dressed in a tatty dress and tatty pants so I looked like a kid from Ireland when their potato crop got ruined. I brought soda bread which is a type of bread that they ate when they didn't have potatoes.

Also today I finished my passion project! I ended up entering a picture of a spider web on a wall. I got some editing help from a amazing photographer Rachel Kelly! Unfortunately I didn't get a placing but I am still proud of my ending product.

I am going to set a goal for this term seeing its my last term of Enrich@ILT! And because it might help me a bit along the way.

My goal this term is to contribute more to topics!

I am going to make this last term at Enrich@ILT amazing!

Under Pressure!

Oh no! This week is our last week to get our discovery project done! I am pretty much done and I am very excited about presenting what I have found out but I am also a bit nervous.

I have really enjoyed doing the project and I now know things all about my great, great, great, great, great grandma! My favourite thing that I learned was all about what it was like in the olden days. Instead of electronic cars they would use horses to get places, and instead of using Iphones to communicate they would just talk head to head. The world has changed a lot over the centuries!

Here are some of my questions that I asked family members...

What are some unique and amazing things my family has done?
My Dad was very brainy e.g he would have a test and he wouldn't study but he would still beat everyone in his class. He also came up with lots of inventions like on my Nana and Poppa's farm their troughs get filled with slimy stuff, so my Dad spent some time in his shed turning the lawn mower into a trough cleaner. He somehow made it suck up things so he went around cleaning the troughs! My sister has won most of her races since she was seven. She recently won the Southland under 13 girls cross country! During world war 2 my great Grandpa's airplane  got shot down over Germany and he spent a year as a prisoner of war and yet he still survived.

Where is my first and middle name from?
My parents just liked them, I could of had the name Annabelle but at the last minute my name was changed to Lucy and my middle name is now Annabelle. If I was a boy I would of been called Timothy Keith Thompson.

Has my family ever opened their own company?
My Nana and Poppa own a 1000 acres farm.

I have loved learning about my families history and I am excited for sharing it!

Making my brain sore!!

Do you want to make your brain sore of thinking?? Well if you do I suggest you carry on reading!!

Today in the morning email Katie sent us three riddles that we had to solve. I sat there for ages re-reading the riddles and I just couldn't get them. After about 5 minutes of hard out thinking I got the second one!!!! Then I got the third one, but I just couldn't get the first one.

These were the questions......

I have streets but no pavement,I have cities but no buildings,I have forests but no trees,I have rivers yet no water.
What am I?

I am small as an ant and big as a whale,I can soar through the air like a bird with a tail.I can be seen by day and not by night,I can be seen with a big flash of light.I follow whoever controls me by the sun,but I fade away when dark fell like a ton.
What am I?

When I'm young I'm tallWhen I'm old I'm shortWhen I'm alive I glowBecause of your breath I die
What am I?

I will include the answers in next weeks blog!!

Newspaper 2014!

The music played in the background as I stared at my blank page. My brain was trying to think, I could hear it ticking away along with the noise of other people typing their ideas. The newspaper group was in the studio typing up newspaper articles because we all had to have one finished in two weeks! After a few minutes of thinking I started to get ideas and soon my fingers were spread out on the keyboard typing them up. I wish I could tell you my ideas but its a surprise, but I can tell you that the Enrich newspaper 2014 is going to be amazing!
